An Experience like in the Fairy Tales!
From contacting the agent, Matthew in Europe to discuss my needs and find the right course, through getting in contact with Patricia Calle, the Assistant Director, to being in class with our teacher Robert Savidge, my experience at Inlingua exceeded all my expectations!
I was able to communicate every day in English, radically improving my oral communication skills, which was my major goal. Additionally, I had the opportunity to write many essays in different topic areas, as this was pretty much encouraged by our liberal arts top educated and very intellectually stimulating teacher. During the process, I was able to reflect, think and formulate my ideas in English in a structured way, getting concrete and constructive feedback on the spot. All these elements of the learning experience allowed me to improve at a fast pace.
The course ran each week from Monday to Thursday. There was a topping on Friday: The opportunity to sign up and pay for an extra 2-hour-lesson from 9am to 11 am, 100% focused on conversation. The teacher, John, was very successful in getting the participants, who joined from different courses during the other four days of the week, to know each other and to engage in interesting discussions based on an article he handed out for reading during the session. My week was round.
The cultural experience was very exciting and enriching, as I directly interacted with course peers of different ages and going through different life phases from Colombia, Jordan, Mongolia, Equatorial Guinea, Ukraine, and Japan. I learned a lot from all of them and from other fellow students in spontaneous conversations during the breaks.
Inlingua is very well located. The building is inviting and very well equipped. There is a very friendly atmosphere. Adriana Posada, the fully energized and encouraging Director as well as Patricia, the very friendly and attentive Assistant are there to make sure that students have an enriching learning experience. We had a Potluck party on Thursday, July 21. Excellent food prepared by students from all over the world and the opportunity to interact with so many different people.
All in all, an experience like in the fairy tales!
I didn't get enough of it!
Many thanks to the very professional and friendly Inlingua team!
María Cecilia Lopera
Colombian & Swiss Inlingua Student
Dear Maria Cecilia, Thank you very very much for the kind words and positive review. We really enjoyed having you study with us and thank you for being such a wonderful student. Thank you, thank you! All the best in your future endeavors.
I took private lessons for two weeks to improve my English level.
I worked with two teachers: Chris and Jared whom I thank very much for their warm welcome, their great flexibility and their great help.
A high quality teaching and many tips to allow me to continue my learning after the end of the course.
The teacher was great, also the institute since it is very next of Metro Station and Georgetown. All was perfect

The classes was good too, people was gentil and listen all the people. Thank you really much inlingua for this experience and see you. Léopold
During the time I was in Inlingua I had a lot of fun because apart from improving my English, I learned from other cultures, and make friends and the activities were good. Apart from that the teachers and the staff were very kind to me. I would definitely recommended Inlingua.
Mostra dettagli » Leggi ancora...I really appreciated my experience at Inlingua and I improved my English skills. All of my teachers were great, kind and amazing, all of them helped me to improve my English. They took time to listen and try to understand you. When you have a problem, you just have to ask and you will be assisted. At Inlingua there were many activities every single day. During the session you have more than one activity with your classmates and your teacher. When I went to Inlingua it was very easy and the location is very simple to explain. Inlingua is in Arlington which is next to Washington DC. With this location, you can easily go to Washington and visit after class.

The location was good, with easy access by Metro with some places around for eating.
About the material used in class - it was okay, with many different topics to improve our knowledge and also the facilities for the students.
I had the opportunity to have classes with two different teachers; the first one was really great and funny but the second one I wouldn't say the same.
I confess that I expected more about this experience of studying English in the States. I did not have much chance to practice oral conversation because we spent much time studying the lessons and doing written exercises in class. I understand that the Course has a program to follow but they were worried about the weekly exam. Indeed, during the week we had 4 days of class and one just for the test.
For a student, the most important thing is to be able to talk with other people and not only understand what people say. We practiced our listening with a native teacher and it was great!
I would suggest that conversation in class should be the most important thing to be explored, and exercises should be done at home and corrected very quickly in class.
Why not make students talk about their experiences of the day before in class at the beginning of the class. I say two students per day for 5 minutes. It makes the student pay more attention in what they do and start thinking in English.
In general I would say the experience I had in class wasn't different than the one I have in my country. In addition, there is a lot to consider about the money we spend to live this experience.
I am not saying that it was a bad experience. Actually, the environment of being in the States helped a lot to have this contact with the language.
I would also like to congratulate Teacher David for sharing good moments in his classes.
Thanks for your support.
Kind regards,
Helcio Vargas
The classes were good and the teachers too but there is a small problem with the teacher - he was speaking quickly and did not explain some difficult and long words, but he was good at organizing time. He explained all of the students' (from other countries) cultures and traditions, by searching the Internet and playing some videos for us. It was nice, and the Institute's place was good. The facilities were good also, but the housing had a small problem, as it was far from school and different from some others.
Overall though it was a great experience.
In general, I had a good experience at Inlingua. I learned many things and it was important for me to improve my English. I had four teachers during my experience there, and not all of them were good. The location and facilities were good, and they have a good staff. I didn't like the books they used, or how they explained grammar. Also, the teachers didn't like those books.
Mostra dettagli » Leggi ancora...I went to the school Monday morning at November the 24th. I took the test and 5 minutes later I was placed at a course on level 5. I was on the course for only 2 weeks and had an 18 hour scheduled week.
The teacher had already started her class on Monday morning and I went in to the classroom. From the moment that I went in to the classroom I felt I already was a part of the class.
The students were from all over the world, for instance one from Yemen, one from Saudi Arabia, one from Korea, one from Russia, one from Peru, another from Thailand, and me I was from Greenland. Our teacher made us have some good and interesting debates, about different topics.
We went to a museum and for me it was a good experience to hear and see about the Native Americans' life from the late 18th century until now.
The only thing that I did not liked was, that some of the students arrived very late to the course. Even though that the class started at 9am, they sometimes arrived at 10 or even at 11am.
Firstly, the school is really good and the location is great for all of those who live in Virginia and Washington DC.
To continue, the teachers I had were excellent but I couldn't enjoy the activities because all of them were in the afternoon and I had classes in that time. They should have activities in the morning too.
Finally, when I decided to study at Inlingua I chose the Oral Track Course because I wanted to speak most of the time but they changed that and I took a business course even though I didn't want to because that was the only course in the afternoon.
Classes were very interesting and included many activities. My teacher Diana was perfect. I liked the location of the school building. Activities were very interesting.
Mostra dettagli » Leggi ancora...My teacher was very friendly, sweet and helpful. The staff and the organization was good. The boss (I think the director) corrected our test and put the students in the right level. In the common areas we can watch the world game (soccer match) on the TV.
There were about 10 people in the class, most of them from Saudi Arabia. They were very nice.
I like the location very much. it is near the metro and near fast food.
About the social activities aren't organized by a tutor.
I like the classes and the teachers are really good; they help you at any time without any doubt and they prepare varied classes. You learn a lot of English, as well. The classes always combine grammar with other activities like speaking with your classmate, listening with videos, songs and movies. The other one is writing; it is helpful for your academic writing if you plan to go to a university with English speakers.
Also you can have a lot of fun during your classes al Inlingua Washington DC. The institute plans several trips and activities after the classes. You can visit awesome places in Washington DC and learn about different cultures with your classmates and make good friends. The location is very good; the institute has busses and the metro very close to it.
I don't have any experiences with the housing.
I recommend Inlingua Washington DC. It is a great option for learning English. Have a nice day, and good luck!
It was a good experience. I regret nothing. I had an amazing class and I am still in contact with them. I had a very great teacher. She helps me a lot to prepare my exam for the IELTS and even after I finished my class in Inlingua she still helps me to prepare another exam in English. She was very helpful and gave me a lot of good advice. It was really easy for me to go to school because I just need to take the metro, and after, you find easily the building. And if you need something, there are stores and restaurants around the building.
Mostra dettagli » Leggi ancora...I have been studying at inlingua for a while, I have had the opportunity to meet many people and I got very good friends in this school. I made the decision to study here because since the first day that I came to Washington, D.C. a couple of years ago, I loved it, and I thought it was the best place to learn English. I've been part of many school activities, I was student ambassador for a while and it helped me to improve my English. I met more people and I had direct contact with teachers, staff, and students. It was an excellent experience. Sharing with different people, learning about their cultures, and making new friends, it was a great opportunity for me.
I've learned more about the history of the United States thanks to Inlingua. All the activities that they do, and teachers who in each class take a few minutes to explain something new of the country helped me to understand and knew things that I had not learned. I don't have complaints about this institute, staff, and teachers have been excellent people. If you have the opportunity to come to this country and learn English, inlingua is a good option to learn, make friends and explore the city.
No matter how much time I spent on thinking how to describe my experience at Inlingua, at Washington DC, it is not enough !! I remember when I first came here I was brusque and reticent due to my culture shock. later then I tried to fight it and cope with the society. one year later, that shy guy become gregarious and so talkative.
To get the full experience from studying abroad, a student ought to live with an American family I saw many students who manage to get a high scores in the exams just because of their attitude to surround them self by the English language, at home at school.
If anyone asked for my advice on where to come to study in USA, I`d say DC without hesitation. Here I saw the four seasons in regard to the climate, here I visited more the 10 museums, and learn about more then culture. here the people are used to see international student so they are more able to understand you and be open minded about you.
1.- Test, the initial test has to check or to evaluate all the skills not only listening, that test is focused in listening, because of that INLINGUA made a mistake with me and I lost 3 weeks walking around for several classroom to try to decide where it was better for me, the specialist is INLINGUA not the student, 2.- class, the system is good for the students who want to study for a long time not for student wants to improve any skill in a short time 3.- the books, I think the book repeats the grammar that was given in the previous levels. 4.- students, in my opinion the students come to INLINGUA and feel that they are free, it doesn't matter responsibility, respect to the rules, nothing else, They always are speaking other languages than english in class. 5.- Teachers I understand that they have to follow the book but they can improve and surprise the students in the class, teachers must prepare the class before not improvising in the classroom, I think they can copy the system of teacher Joseph ( excellent teacher ) because he gives grammar, reading, writing, vocabulary and make a lot of emphasis in speaking and listening in all day he can work in all skills, he implements games, current information to discuss in class, and the students aren't bored and pay more attention AND interest to learn the language. 6.- homestay inlingua has to check the American family's houses because there are a lot of problems with: food, lactation, the family doesn't share with the students, some home stays gives the supplies other not, cleaning, facilities services it is necessary that all the home stay has the same basic requirements because the students pay the same fare for the same services if a homestay wants to give a plus it is another thing, we don't have in a hotel we need to speak with them because it is good for improving your skills.
7.- students ambassador these student must be a role model 8.-activities I think heather is excellent host but these activities must include as a part of the studies, because the students don't go to the activities 8.-location INLINGUA is located in a perfect place because it is very close to the metro. 9.- administration I think they must know the programs languages in order to give support to the students when they are going to take the course.
Hi there;
I would like share my experiences at Inlingua. I have been studying for one year at Inlıngua. I’ve almost taken all classes of Inlingua so, I’ve improved my English skills step by step. Actually, I am the best example of students because I have been educated by many different teachers. I would like say something about my teachers. In my opinion, Inlingua teachers have great experience in teaching. First of all, I don’t want to discriminate my other teachers but I would like to thank to Mr. Jack, Mr. Joseph and Mrs. Patrica from here. Because they weren’t only my teacher, they were also my friends. Otherwise, as an international student I needed a bunch of paper at many times. But I was lucky because I have Inlingua’s friendly adviser Mrs. Nora. I am appreciative to lady Nora.
I mean; Inlingua is a such a nice language school. I shared my personal opinion with you guys. If you have any chance, you should visit Inlingua and you can see yourself..
I had a wonderful experience studying at Inlingua Washington D.C! The teachers here are awesome, very creative and fun! There are students from all over the world here. It's great to meet the different cultural aspects of different countries. Classes are comfortable, pleasant. Together we study and share the cultural experiences of our countries the faculty and staff were always very helpful and cared about each student beyond just the academics. The facilities are excellent, have access to what you really want for your life. This is a good experience for the real world.
Inlingua is in perfect location, close to a metro station, bars, cafes, you will have what you want! Inlingua program offers excellent accommodation with an American family, an exciting program of activities, including travel, recreation, conversation club, varied activities, so you can feel your own experience.
I am very proud of what I have learned at Inlingua and most of all, the friendships that I have formed!
Thank you for opening the doors of this home studio, and heart
Ivanna Cabrera From: Paraguay!
First of all, Inlingua has an excellent quality of teaching which is why I will definitely recommend this school.
Secondly, I used to live with a host family. My family was very great and friendly, my host mum was always asking me about what do I want for dinner. I had a big room with my own bathroom and also a living room, my own house key so I could leave whenever I wanted, I felt at home.
Furthermore, Inlingua has an excellent location in Arlington just near the Metro Station and some restaurants.
However, Inlingua doesn't allow coffee in the classroom and if you are 10 min late you will be marked absent.
But finally, I definitely recommend this school because of its quality of teaching, its location and its Host Family program.
When I have chosen Inlingua I was looking for a school that could help me to get more conversation. Lessons are dynamic. Lessons are different all days. Teachers are qualified, helpful and friendly. They stimulate conversation in different ways. Teachers assign homework and they check and correct them in class together.
Tests and spelling words help to remember what we have studied in class.
Location is close to Rosslyn metro station. Good and strategic position.
I met good classmates.
Time of the lesson flies away.....
Desks are a little bit small....perhaps I grew too much!
Hi there, I want to tell you all how beautiful this English school is and how this school helped me to learn English. If you want to learn English, that's the school you should be in, mostly because they always bring opportunity to practice and improve your English. The most exciting things are the activities, no matter what your religion is, they always let you in the activities so you can feel a part of it. The best thing that I like about this school is that whenever we have a problem no matter how small it is, they help with it until the problem is solved.
About the host family, I am going to tell you that it's the best thing to make your English better and sound like an American. There is some problem you may have with them, but they are always interested in solving it. The best of all of them is Nadia H. The teachers are always helping you with doubts that you may have, something you would like share with them, they are always available.
I have not introduced myself, my name is Antonio Ngua Nguema Among from Equatorial Guinea, mostly called Toni Parker, I am the new ambassador from this school and I recommend you all this school, the fist time in United States, I came without knowing English, but now that I have been here for 6 month, I consider myself a professional English speaker.
Inlingua is a very good language school. The classes are very interesting, the teachers are prepared to deal with students of other languages. The location is very good, close to the metro station Rosslyn. I liked so much this experience there.

School classes were full of Arab native speakers, so I was not forced to speak English. My roommate in the homestay was also Arab. Homestay was very far from school. I was told during registration that it was very near to school. Management of school didn't want to put me in another homestay close to school when I complained about it. Train station was very far from the homestay and the host mother sometimes didn't escort me to the station, so I had to take a taxi at my own expense. It was all in all bad experience.
