This two-week course is for anyone who wants to learn Spanish as a second or foreign language. It covers the basic aspects of the language, so no previous experience or knowledge is required. Our students will get an entry-level understanding of how the Spanish Language is structured with the following concepts:
In order to start understanding the Spanish Language, we teach modes that are used to explain how to conjugate verbs; thereby helping to understand the message of what is being said and why. There are three types of Modes: Indicativo | Subjuntivo | Imperativo
Understanding the Structure of the language will teach you the building blocks of how to use verbs, how their ending influences the meaning and thus, helping to describe the modes. The three Structures are: Infinitiva | Gerundio | Participio
The weekly lessons consist of 3 hours per day, for a duration of one to two weeks. A total of 15 hours per week. Tuition is one-to-one with your own teacher. You will get the full attention you require in a relaxed environment and build the genuine friendships that will help your confidence grow.
The course is structured over a two-week period, but we understand that some students can only assign one week for learning basic Spanish. Therefore, the one-week option of this course will be trimmed down to maximise what students can realistically achieve in a week of learning.

First of all my Professora, Guadalupe, was the perfect Spanish teacher for me. After the first day she assessed my current level of Spanish and outlined a plan to bring it back up to where it was before and a little more.
The first week was conversation with immediate correction and explanation provided. Our conversations were always interesting and often humorous.
At the end of the week I was given a writing assignment – my biography. I asked if I could lie, she said “of course” and so I did.
The second week focused more on grammar, rules and exceptions. The textbook covered all the topics we managed to get to and is a great reference book.
All in all it was a great course even though I will need a lot more than two weeks to get right back up to speed. Maybe next year.
Secondly the Siria Family were excellent and the accommodation was fine.
Maria was and excellent cook although the portions were a bit too big for me. After a few days I requested smaller portions – this was much more comfortable for me. Nedar was a friendly and interesting dining companion. The whole family was always welcoming and accommodating and made me feel right at home.
The school facilities were as indicated by your advertising materials. I was disappointed that I was the “Whole student body” but realise that Nicaragua is suffering a terrible collapse of its tourism industry and that August September is the most torrid time of the year. So not surprising that I was the only student at Dariana.
Personally the heat and humidity were challenging, especially during the first week. My only suggestion is that the veranda have a bigger fans (ventilador)!
The location Leon en the hostel where I practice Spanish was ok
I didn’t do any activities because I had to go back 1 week to early - family emergency
My teacher was passionate about the country and the Spanish language
We build up a close relationship in one week , very special!
Actually I liked everything in the week I was there
I had private lessons from Guadalupe Medina
Greetings Tineke
Due to the corona situation I had to go back home after just 5 days.
Pick up at airport: Perfect
Nice and good teacher
Housing not to my standard, I need something better for my next visit.
I need to come back when the situation change to better
My period at the Dariana school was 3 months and i liked it. They are really flexible with your schedule so you can take pause in between to explore the Nica, going to Ometepe or Corn Island for longer.
I had great teacher Gloria Castro, she is really nice, she knows how to explain the topic and is really patient with you. We had such an amazing time together, we laughed, talked a lot in Spanish, went to the coffee shop and to the central market for pastry and drink :)
The school is located close to the centrum so it is everything at your hand.
My homestay wasn’t something what i expected. It was more apartment with three meals per day. I didn’t have that much conversion with them, beside setting for the launch together and sometimes for the dinner, wasn’t much there. Was expecting more interaction with them.
Beside that they were nice and we had also time for smile :)
The apartment was clean and the sheets were changed on weekly basis, what is pretty amazing.
I had a course for one week. My purpose was to learn the Spanish street talk, so the easy talk. The first two days I learned to introduce myself, colors, months, days of the week en the numbers. The third day we start with grammar. That was a bit too difficult for me, because the explanation was in Spanish and my Spanish wasn't good enough. I ask the teacher to go back to the basics because my target was to safe myself with Spanish on street, public transport and restaurant. She found the grammar very important so we were not on one line.
To learn Spanish I think that one week is not enough. I spoke to other travelers and some Spanish schools offer the lessons on another way and go with you to the market etc. I think that will help you more and you learn the basics more easily. I don't recommend Dariana Spanish School when you have just one or two weeks.
I liked the grammar book and I enjoyed the teacher and her flexibility. Sometimes I had trouble getting contact with the owner, who was apparently the only one who could answer my questions. If only other people at the school could answer my questions this would not be a problem, just an advice.
